
Using CoachFX, Glasgow City Council Education Department
in conjunction with Rangers and Celtic Football Clubs have
just successfully completely block 1 of their innovative Playing
For Keeps Programme.
14 – 16 year olds, identified by their school, who
potentially will fall into the NEET (Not in Education, Employment
or Training) category on leaving school were given the opportunity
to join the programme.
Playing For Keeps aims to develop skills which are transferable
into the workplace. By using a combination of IT based study
and practical coaching skills in a football environment and
using CoachFX to capture the imagination of the young people
and inspire them to engage in the learning process, the result
has been a resounding success.
100% of participants felt their confidence has improved and
would follow a career path in sports coaching as a result
of the programme. 90% of participants had improved ICT skills.
