Objectives
The session objective is to improve the player's awareness and speed of decision making when faced with multiple passing options.
Setup
Six to eight players in a circular area of 15 - 20 yards across.
Coaching points
Player 1 passes to player 2, player 2 passes to player 3. Player 1 follows his pass into the centre of the circle and player 2 likewise follows his pass to the player 3's position who passes the ball to player 1 (now at the centre of the circle). The sequence is now repeated.
Allow two touches on the outside and in the middle for 6-9 year olds, progressing to two touches on the outside to one touch in the middle then one touch all round.
Look for and encourage good first touch, getting the ball out of the feet and the weight and accuracy of the pass. Every player should be on their toes anticipating a pass. Make the drill flow by insisting that the ball does not stop moving.
When using two touches encourage receiving player to get the ball out of his feet to the side to avoid the middle player who is running towards him.
